A Minneapolis man who has been living at a halfway house since last February is back behind bars after a box cutter was discovered under his bed. The 19-year-old man, Abdullahi Yusuf, was one of seven terror suspects accused of trying to join ISIS. His case has made headlines across Minnesota and the country.
According to officials, Yusuf had been living at the halfway house as part of a supervised release plan. Others involved in the attempt to leave the U.S. and help ISIS are under similar supervised release plans or are currently incarcerated. Yusuf was ordered back to jail in late April for the violation, but the information about the box cutter was only publicized earlier this week.
Attorney Joe Tamburino appeared on CBS Minnesota to discuss the case and Yusuf’s weapons violation. As a respected criminal defense lawyer who has earned recognition throughout Minneapolis and the state, Attorney Tamburino is routinely called upon to share his legal insight with various news agencies.
