Recently, news reports have stated that Danny Heinrich and his team of lawyers have requested that Heinrich’s recent pornography case be moved out of the Twin Cities and into a federal courthouse in Minnesota. Some sources believe that he and his legal team may even request that the trial be moved out of the state. When spoken with, Attorney Joe Tamburino stated that requests to move federal trials rarely succeed.
In addition, Heinrich and his legal counsel are requesting that various factors of his case be thrown out, including the following:
- Various DNA tests
- Statements he made to investigators stating they would surely find child pornography in his home and that he is a “dirty old man”
In response, Attorney Joseph Tamburino of Tamburino Law Groupstated that the evidence of Heinrich’s case will undoubtedly be used against him since the “strongest evidence you can use against any defendant is what’s found on them or their property, or in their words.”
As of now, Heinrich’s attorneys argue that probable cause for the search of Heinrich’s house did not exists and that his arrest was unlawful. His legal counsel adds that as a result, the evidence found during the search is invalid.
Other Cases Involving Danny Heinrich
This case is not the first involving Heinrich. In fact, much evidence shows that he is considered a suspect of interest in the disappearance of 26-year-old Jacob Wetterling and an unsolved sexual assault case involving a group of boys in Painesville during the 1980’s. Additionally, he was found to be linked to the abduction of Jared Scheierl. However, due to the statute of limitations, prosecutors cannot charge Heinrich for that particular abduction or assault.
